A graduate from Old Orchard Beach High School in 1985, Christopher Cash left
his mark in the school community not only through his excellence in academics
and athletics, but also because of his helping nature and great outlook on
life...In 1987, Chris joined the Army where he would begin his seventeen years
of military service. While in the Army, Chris continued to value the education
process and completed both a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology.
He earned his Master's degree at East Carolina University where he has also been
awarded "Alumnus of the Year" for 2004. When Chris was not called for active
duty, he worked as an Exercise Physiologist in Greenville, North Carolina and
enjoyed being a husband and the father of two sons.
On June 24, 2004 Captain Christopher Scott Cash, Commanding Officer of
Company A, 1st of the 120th Infantry Regiment died while leading his men in
Baqubah, Iraq. He will be remembered for his caring ways, outstanding leadership
skills, and dedication toward all of his pursuits.
The Captain Christopher Scott Cash Memorial Scholarship will be awarded each
year to an outstanding student whose character represents that which Captain
Cash stood for...The recipient must be an athlete who has shown strengths in
other important aspects of life. The recipient should be someone who has
unselfishly given to his/her community, is committed to his/her goals, conducts
him/herself among others in an exemplary way, and plans to further his/her
education.
